Ch 3 · Microprocessors — Making Decisions · Theory

Topic 3 of 8 in Automated Systems, Robotics & Control — 2 lessons.

The Brain of the System

A microprocessor reads the sensor values, compares them against stored pre-set values (thresholds), and decides what output to trigger. In a heating system: if the measured temperature is *below* the target, switch the heater on.

The Decision, in Code

Every automated controller is, at heart, a comparison against a set point.
